Tom Weston-Jones was born in Burton-on-Trent, in the English Midlands in 1987.
Part English, part Welsh, Tom then relocated with his family to Dubai where he was brought up for the next 18 years, before moving back to the UK where he now calls home. Having recently graduated from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2010, Tom has since relocated to London where he now lives.
Tom’s first real break came back in 2010 in the Hampstead Theatre, London production of Enlightenment (by Shelagh Stephenson). Director Ed Hall cast him as the very troubled Adam, a young man with a brain injury and a compulsion to lie.
Tom’s next part followed soon after, in his first major televised role. Cast as Russian Security Service officer Sasha Gavrik, As the primary antagonist in the final season of the award winning BBC television series Spooks, Tom played alongside the likes of Peter Firth and Nicola Walker. The six part series centred on Harry Pearce’s (Peter Firth) dark past in Cold War ridden Eastern Europe. The Gavrik family is the main reminder of Harry’s twisted past, with Tom’s character Sasha at the centre of the crisis.
After completing the filming of Spooks in London, Tom was then cast as Merthin Fitzgerald in the adaptation of Ken Follet’s 13th Century epic World Without End. The eight part miniseries was filmed in Budapest (Hungary) and is due to air in the US in October and in the UK in early 2013. The show centres on Caris Wooler (Charlotte Riley) and Merthin Fitzgerald trying to maintain peace in the fictional town of Kingsbridge. The town is plagued with problems ranging from corrupt priests, war hungry queens and the Black Death.

Tom’s next role followed immediately after, as lead character Kevin Corcoran in BBC America’s first original scripted series Copper. Set in 1864 New York, Corcoran is an Irish-American detective working in the five points of Manhattan. Not only trying to maintain control over the melting pot that is New York, Corcoran is trying to find any information he can about his missing wife Ellen and his murdered child. Filmed in Toronto, Copper was BBC America’s most watched premier in the channel’s history. Now scheduled for a second season, Tom will begin filming the next instalments of Copper in January 2013.
